The reaction after Karbala بازتاب واقعه کربلا The martyrdom of Husayn was a great religious significance and had a deep heart-searching after-effect upon the Shi'is, giving a new turn to the mode and nature of the Shi'i movement. شهادت حسین (ع) از اهمیت فوق العاده زیادی برخوردار بود و تاثیری بسیار شگرف بر شیعیان بجا گذاشت. این شهادت دوره ای نو را برای ظهور و بروز نهضت تشیع بوجود آورد. لغات: significance : the importance of an event, action etc, especially because of the effects or اهمیت قدر influence it will have in the future The tragic fate of the grandson of the Prophet stirred religious and moral sentiments. سرنوشت غم انگیز نواده پیامبر، عواطف اخلاقی و مذهبی مردم را به هم ریخت. particulary among those of Kufan followers of the House of the Prophet who had so zealously asked Husayn to come to Iraq to guide them on what they considered to be the path of God. علی الخصوص در میان پیروان کوفی خاندان پیامبر که با اشتیاق فراوان از حسین تقاضا کرده بودند تا رهسپار عراق شود و آنان را به مسیری که راه خداوند به حساب میرفت هدایت کند. But when Husayn came to Iraq they did not or could not stand with him in the hour of trial. ولی پس از ورود حسین (ع) به عراق، در مرحله امتحان با او همراه نشدند و یا نتوانستند با او همراه شوند. Soon afterwards, however, they realized that their inability, or rather weakness, had been the cause of the tragedy. در عین حال به زودی متوجه شدند که عدم توانائی و یا تا حدودی سستی ایشان بود که موجب آن فاجعه (و مصیبت) شده بود. A deep sense of repentance set in, provoking their religious conscience; and in order to expiate their negligence and obtain God's forgiveness, they thought they must make similar sacrifices. احساس عمیق ندامت در ایشان بوجود آمد که در نتیجه وجدان دینی ایشان را برانگیخت و درنتیجه بر آن شدند که اهمال کاری خویش را جبران کنند و بخشایش خداوند را بدست آورند. از این رو اندیشیدند که باید جانبازیهای مشابهی را انجام دهند. set in: if something sets in, especially something unpleasant, it begins and seems likely to continue for a long time گریبانگیر شدن شروع شدن و بند نیامدن گرفتن و ول نکردن
expiate : formal to show you are sorry for something you have done wrong by accepting your punishment willingly, or trying to do something to improve what you did جبران کردن کفاره دادن
